Ways to make money as a photographer

While the images uploaded to photobanks are being checked and slowly sold, you can start a related business. Distribute, or as it is fashionable to say - to diversify - income in different areas of activity. As my grandma and grandpa used to teach: "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." But what is the best thing about being a photographer? Photo! How else, besides microstocks, can you make money with a camera? Here are some ways. Some of them may not be real, but any idea can lead to something worthwhile.

1. Wedding photographer

Well, yes, the oldest form of earnings of Homo erectus with a camera. The competition is high and, although the return is also significant, physical and moral strength will also have to be put in fairly.

2. Kindergarten photographer

Try to spud kindergartens and schools. The reality is that almost all institutions have lured photographers and it is quite difficult to infiltrate this area. Perhaps you should look for contact not through the administration, but from the other end, through the parents. Offer quality, moderate fees and modern formats. For example, to abandon the idiotic Winnie the Pooh vignettes and promote print-quality photo books.

3. Personal photo sessions

A huge field of activity, which extensively intersects with the microstock business, because you can work not for money, but for a signed model release. Personal shooting of children, couples in love (love stories), pregnant mothers, family photos, photos of animals, etc.

4. Post photos on products

With the help of Zazzle or RedBubble, you can sell your photos or drawings on mugs, T-shirts, mouse pads and similar things. There are many other similar services, but these are the largest.

5. Freelance photojournalist

Photograph artists and other celebrities, perhaps even local ones. Be in the thick of things, make photo reports about rallies, meetings, concerts, incidents and offer them to the media.

6. Contextual advertising

If you have a photography site and it's relatively popular, you can set up Google AdSense ads and earn money from every click on the ad.

7. Cooperation with real estate agencies

Offer the services of a photographer to real estate agencies, they constantly need photos of the properties they sell.

8. Room decoration

Print your best works in large format on a substrate and offer them for decorating cafes, restaurants, shops.

9. eBay auction

Development of the idea of the previous version. Put up printed works in a beautiful frame for sale in the online auction eBay. Not even necessarily a large format, everything is suitable: calendars from pocket to wall, thematic photo books, in general, any printed matter with your work.

10. Photography courses

Open online or face-to-face photography courses. Share your secrets in shooting or editing photos. For a small fee, of course.

11. Participate in contests

And that, too, is a kind of income option. There are countless photo contests on the internet all the time. Participate in them. Not only will you win prizes, but you will also earn a name for yourself.

It will be great if you share your experience of making money with a camera in the comments.
